Wonderful — thank you for creating space for pollinators across Barnet 🌼
Mini meadows in pots and planters are a brilliant way to support nature — even a small balcony, doorstep or sunny corner can make a real difference.
Your next step:
-Find a pot or planter with drainage holes
-Place it somewhere sunny
-Use low-nutrient soil if possible (for example previously used soil, or mix sand into shop-bought compost), fill almost all the way to the pot’s rim
-Remove any existing weeds or plants
Pot size
-Larger pots usually work best because they give roots more space and dry out less quickly
-Ideally, use a pot that is more than 25cm deep
-If you only have a smaller pot, that’s absolutely fine — you can still grow a lovely mini meadow 🌼
-Some plants may stay smaller or become crowded over time, especially in the second year
-If needed, you can always move plants into larger pots or into the ground later on
When you are ready to sow your seeds 🌱 You can sow anytime from September until the end of October.
And remember:
-You can update your meadow progress at any time via our “meadow status update” emails
-Every pot and planter counts towards our shared target of 600 mini meadows in 60 days
Thank you for being part of the Mini Meadow Movement.
