Climate change solutions are abundant, but taking that first step can be intimidating. Many individuals and groups in Barnet are embracing sustainability and have valuable knowledge to share, to inspire confidence in others.

May, 2026 Pollinators, Pathways and the Historic Walks of Finchley
Our group Finchley Pollinator Project, alongside East Finchley Community Trust, was selected to deliver a Light + Flight community heritage project. The project, running from February 2026 to February 2027, reconnects people, green spaces, and local history through three historic walking routes. The project links community gardens and growing spaces along routes that trace historic boundaries between Finchley Common and early settlement.The project will tell the stories of the spaces’ heritage including the people and community groups who enrich nature in these special spaces.
Light + Flight is presented by Art in Barnet. It is supported by a Cultural Impact Award, part of the Mayor’s London Borough of Culture programme. It is made possible with additional support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Arts Council England. Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage. The Community Heritage Grants are made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
